Your 2026 Goals Need A Strategy (Not Vibes)
Every January the entire health, wellness and fitness industries see this patten in humans.
Motivation spikes -> Goals get set -> Gym memberships get bought -> Diet plans get made -> January’s get dried out -> And then… life happens.
By this very weekend in late January, most people are back in the same loop: start hard -> burn out -> get sore/injured/tired/over it -> fall off -> health/weight gets worse -> repeat next year.
If this is you I am here to tell you the the real problem is not your effort, it’s that you did not start with a good strategy.
A lot of people work really hard, but their training effort doesn’t line up with what they’re trying to accomplish. So they spend time, energy, and willpower… and still don’t get the result they want.
That’s not a motivation problem. It’s a strategy problem, and strategy gets a lot easier when you have real data.
Which is why I think everyone who is striving for a health or performance goal in 2026 needs a VO2 Max and Resting Metabolic Rate test.
When I say this, most people think these two tests are just for endurance athletes or people with cardiac issues, but the truth is that testing matters to anyone who cares about achieving a health or performance goal, because the same problems hit everybody:
- Burnout
- Injury (beginners ramp too fast; elites push tiny gains too aggressively)
- Plateaus (intermediate athletes doing “random hard” without direction)
- Stop–start cycles (the #1 killer of long-term progress)
In reality, the most important factor for success in training for an event or in overhauling your body composition is consistency over a very long period.
And metabolic testing helps you stay consistent by guiding intensity, fueling, and progression so you don’t keep blowing yourself up.
At face value, it seems almost too simple: you’re measuring oxygen and carbon dioxide.
But what comes out in your breath reflects multiple systems working together, it tells us your
- cardiovascular function (heart)
- respiratory function (lungs + mechanics)
- muscular demand and efficiency
- cellular metabolism (how you produce energy)
- fuel use (carbs vs fats)
- overall coordination under load
That’s why testing can go far beyond the VO₂ max number or how many calories you need to sustain life, it gives us data on the following:
- If you are doing too much too soon
- Why are you getting crushed by soreness?
- Why could you be getting injured?
- Why you might be quitting because you think your body is “broken.”
- If you are training hard in the wrong place
- Are you under-fueling?
- Are you missing low-intensity volume?
- If you have the “kinda hard” junk intensity problem
- If you are balancing strength + endurance right
- How to dial in your intensity distribution
- How to refine your fueling and recovery
- How to target specific limitations (respiratory, cardiovascular, muscular, metabolic)
And it can help reduce the frustrating cycle in which high fitness coexists with repeated injury.
Testing helps you set process-based goals that are actually actionable and will help you build lean muscle mass, improve fat oxidation across a wider intensity range, train more in the right zones, add high-intensity strategically (not constantly), and improve recovery capacity.
Start the year with a plan, not vibes. Motivation is fragile. Data and discipline are durable.
Get a VO2 Max & Metabolic test to help you.
- Match the training effort to the goal.
- Reduce injury and burnout risk.
- Create zones that actually fit your body.
- Track progress even before it shows up outwardly
- Build confidence that your plan is working.
- Stay consistent long enough for change to compound.
These two tests are normally $150 each, but for a limited time I am offering both for $200, and the best part is that you get ME as a human body consultant to help you chose a health and fitness strategy that you won’t fail at.
