Preventing Hamstring Strains with Dr. Dave

Recently I had a client come in with a hamstring strain. They were playing in a soft ball league, hit a rocket of a hit and took off sprinting to try and turn it into a double. On the second step they took they felt a “pow” in their mid hamstring and pulled up limping. A few days later the are was all black and blue and they could barely walk.

This is a classic mid belly (middle of the hamstring) strain which is medical for tear. Luckily these are very treatable and can heal quickly with the right treatment and rehab.

However an ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure. If this athlete just added these swiss ball hamstring curls to their workout once per week the likelihood is that they would not have had the issue in the first place.
